1111 and Yizzy have a new one together. “1, 2 Step” landed on 23 October through Gotta Move, the house and garage imprint run by Insomniac. It hit 1111’s SoundCloud on Tuesday morning, and we liked it straight away.

It’s a UK garage cut with a grime MC up front. 1111 tagged it UKG, UK bass and bass house. The label’s own notes point to shuffling drums, rattling basslines and deep sub sweeps under Yizzy’s skippy, clipped flow. On paper, that’s very much our lane.

The single comes in two versions. The radio edit runs 2:52. There’s also a 4:22 extended mix for DJs, under catalogue number GM045. It’s 1111’s first record for Gotta Move.

Yizzy is an English vocalist and grime MC, and he does most of the talking here. His bars are about how people should move on a dancefloor. The writing credits list Lauren Cumberpatch, Charles Shelley Jones and Yisrael Parkins.

Who is 1111?

1111 is said “eleven eleven”. It’s the club alias of British producer, vocalist and spoken-word artist Lauren L’aimant. She named it for her late brother, and the sound comes from the pirate radio and vinyl they shared.

She has worked with Patrick Topping, Rebuke, BIIANCO, Icarus and Aya Anne. She also made “MUZIK” with Jaguar, the BBC Introducing host. On Radio 1, Danny Howard, Sarah Story, Pete Tong and Jeremiah Asiamah have all played her records.

We last caught up with her through her GemFest 2027 mix, which leaned on garage, bassline and dubstep. This one is shorter and a lot more direct. Grab it on all platforms via Gotta Move.
