EXIT Festival 2027 is going back to where it started. This afternoon the Serbian festival confirmed it will return to Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad next July. That’s a full year earlier than its own plan.
Last year EXIT said it would no longer run in Serbia. It pointed to political, security and financial pressure after it backed the country’s student protest movement. Now, after the student list’s election win, the organisers say the time has come.
EXIT Festival 2027 brings the crowd back to the Fortress next July
The news landed first on EXIT’s Instagram, then on the festival’s own site. “We always said that EXIT would return when freedom returned to our country,” the post reads.
The team had pencilled in 2028 for the comeback. They say a return on the scale they want needs at least 18 months of prep. But fans flooded them with emails, messages and comments, so they’ve pulled it forward. Next July, the crowd gathers at the Fortress again for what the festival calls “a special EXIT experience”. Details are still to come.
Founder and CEO Dušan Kovačević said the pressure on the festival only made the team more determined. He also said his own brother was in detention at the time, which he saw as another way of pushing EXIT to drop its support for the students.
No dates, lineup or tickets yet
So far, there are no dates, no lineup and no ticket details. The festival only says July 2027 and Petrovaradin Fortress. Historically, EXIT runs over a long weekend in early-to-mid July, but treat that as a guide until official dates drop.
EXIT spent its year away on the road. It took the brand around the world, including a full-scale festival in front of the Great Pyramids of Giza. The fortress, though, is home. It’s where EXIT began, and its Dance Arena is still one of Europe’s best-known electronic stages.
