Skrillex has apologised for his performance at Head Trip, the Goldenvoice festival at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, which took place on 10 and 11 October.
He posted on X on Tuesday evening, two days after his Sunday slot:
“My deepest apologies for my set and sound at head trip. I was having a nightmare myself up there and hate how bad that was for everyone in the crowd. No excuses , will take the L and make a lesson of it.”
He didn’t say what had gone wrong, and there’s been nothing from the festival about any technical problem during his set.
Sunday was a crowded night already. Saturday’s programme ended early because of lightning near the site, so Calvin Harris never got to play his headline slot, and he was moved onto Sunday’s bill. That left Skrillex, Harris and Swedish House Mafia playing one after another. Four Tet and Peggy Gou were also on the weekend line-up.
The post had passed two million views by Thursday morning.
