Boomtown Festival

11–15 August 2027, Matterley Estate, Hampshire

Our guide to the city-sized festival near Winchester: dates, tickets, travel and camping.

Boomtown festival 2027 takes place from 11 to 15 August on the Matterley Estate in Hampshire, a few miles from Winchester. It isn’t laid out like a normal festival site. Instead, Boomtown builds a whole city, with eight districts that each have their own look, characters and venues.

Every year adds a new chapter to a running storyline, so the city changes from one summer to the next. Chapter Five, Radical Redesign, ran in 2026. Chapter Six is called Wild Style.

Boomtown festival 2027 dates and location

Boomtown has confirmed Chapter Six for Wednesday 11 to Sunday 15 August 2027. The festival’s own FAQ says the site has to be cleared by midday on Monday 16 August.

The address is Matterley Estate, Hampshire, SO21 1HW. Boomtown describes it as a working dairy farm at the most westerly point of the South Downs National Park. Even so, don’t rely on a sat nav alone. Exact routing comes with your ticket, and the festival asks you to follow it.

Boomtown is strictly over 18s. Some crew children live on site during the build, but responsible adults look after them.

Tickets and sign-up for 2027

Tickets for 2027 are already on sale through Boomtown’s ticketing partner, Kaboodle. If you’d rather wait for news, you can join the official newsletter on the Boomtown website.

Boomtown festival tickets

There are four main entry tickets. You can choose Wednesday or Thursday entry. On top of that, each comes in a standard version or a cheaper public transport version.

The public transport ticket only works if you actually arrive by an approved coach or shuttle. If you drive in on one, it won’t be valid for entry.

At the time of writing (27 October 2026), the official ticket page listed these 2027 prices:

  • Wednesday Entry Ticket: £440
  • Wednesday Public Transport Entry Ticket: £385
  • Thursday Entry Ticket: £370
  • Thursday Public Transport Entry Ticket: £315

Instalment plans are also available, and you pick that option at the end of checkout. However, Boomtown warns that missed payments can lead to the ticket being cancelled without a refund.

Every entry ticket includes a £20 Eco Bond deposit. You get it back by handing in one bag of general waste and one bag of recycling at the end of the festival. You can change the name through your Kaboodle account. It costs £20, and each ticket can only change name once.

Boomtown also recommends adding TicketPlan refund protection, because bookings are otherwise non-refundable.

There are discounted local tickets for residents in SO21, SO22, SO23 and SO24 postcodes. To get one, you need to contact Boomtown’s local community team first.

Getting to Boomtown

Train and shuttle from Winchester

Winchester is the closest main railway station, about three miles from the site. From there, Boomtown runs a regular shuttle bus to the festival. The shuttle is wheelchair accessible.

The festival says the shuttle timetable is published in July on its website. For 2027, that timetable is still to come. Meanwhile, the 2027 ticket page lists a Winchester to Boomtown transport option at £19 (as of 27 October 2026).

Coaches

National Express runs Boomtown’s official coaches. They go right to the city gates from more than 50 UK locations, including London, Bristol, Manchester and Heathrow Airport.

Coaches arrive on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. They then head home on Sunday or Monday. Any ticket holder can add a coach pass through their Kaboodle account. Coach prices on the 2027 ticket page started at £37 from Southampton (as of 27 October 2026).

After booking, you’ll get a voucher code by email. You then use it to choose your travel times with National Express. Boomtown’s deadline for this is 1 July. If you miss it, you’ll be given a coach from whatever is left.

Luggage on coaches and shuttles is one bag per person, up to 20kg. On top of that, you can bring up to three items of camping kit, tent included. Trolleys are fine as long as they fold down.

Driving and parking

You need a parking pass, which you can add when booking or later through Kaboodle. Passes are valid from the arrival day on your entry ticket. Skylark and Orchid campers use separate car parks, so pick the right one.

Boomtown also asks drivers to fill their cars and points people to an official Liftshare group.

Taxis and drop-offs

Taxis and drop-offs go to the drop-off zone at West Gate. There’s a taxi point near the gate for the journey home. Always pre-book, and only use a licensed driver.

Camping and accommodation at Boomtown

All entry tickets include general camping. So you can bring your own tent and pitch up without paying extra.

If you want more comfort, there are upgrades. Camp Orchid is a bring-your-own-tent area with flushing toilets, hot showers and a pamper parlour. It also has its own bar inside the city. Drivers should pick Camp Orchid South, which sits right next to the Orchid car park, while Camp Orchid West works better if you’re arriving by coach, shuttle or taxi.

For something already set up, Camp Skylark is the pre-pitched option. Choices run from bell tents to yurts, tipis and cabins. Every person staying there needs a Skylark wristband as well as an entry ticket.

Grand Vista is new for 2027. It’s a premium pre-pitched camp with its own bars, table service and a reserved main stage viewing area. The Kaboodle ticket page also lists further pre-pitched options from Tangerine Fields and Camplight.

Campervans and caravans need a pitch pass. A standard campervan pitch fits vehicles up to 5m wide and 7m deep. Larger vehicles and caravans need the 14m deep pitch. Everyone in the vehicle still needs a festival entry ticket.

Prices and availability

Accommodation prices and stock change often, and several options were already sold out on 27 October 2026. For that reason, check the live ticket page rather than relying on figures here.

Watch the official Boomtown after film

Boomtown’s latest official after film on its own YouTube channel covers 2025’s Chapter Four, The Power of Now. An official Chapter Five (2026) after film hadn’t appeared on the channel as of 27 October 2026.

Boomtown also posts full sets from the festival. For example, 2026 sets from Sherelle, Sub Focus and Kneecap are up on the channel now.
